Environmental Considerations
Ozone Depletion Substitutes Considerations
Montreal Protocol
The attempt to take the necessary actions to protect human health and the environment against adverse effects resulting or likely to result from human activities which can modify the ozone layer has led to:
The Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer as adjusted and/or amended in London 1990 - Copenhagen 1992 - Vienna 1995 - Montreal 1997 - Beijing 1999 Website: http://www.unep.org/ozone
In its endeavour to offer its own contribution to the environment, FirePro Systems has ensured that its products are manufactured from carefully selected and environment friendly materials.
Even at the end of the product life-cycle, our products can be recycled or re-used without waste.
Upon activation and discharge, our products pose no threat to the atmosphere when the extinguishing aerosol is produced.
This is evident in the physical and chemical characteristics of our products, bearing the ‘Green Label’, SNAP Listed (Significant New Alternative Policy) of EPA (USA) and Ozone-Friendly & NO CFC’s.
Global Warming Considerations
Fluorinated gases (‘F-gases’) are a family of man-made gases used in a range of industrial applications. Because they do not damage the atmospheric ozone layer, they are often used as substitutes for ozone-depleting substances. However, F-gases are powerful greenhouse gases, with a global warming effect up to 23 000 times greater than carbon dioxide (CO2), and their emissions are rising strongly http://ec.europa.eu/clima/policies/f-gas/index_en.htm.
FirePro Fire Extinguishing Aerosol Generators do not contain any harmful chemical substance i.e. Sulphur Hexafluoride SF6, Hydrofluorocarbons as HCFC, HFCs (23, 32, 41, 43-10mee, 125, 134, 134a, 152a, 143, 143a, 227ea, 236cb, 236ea, 236fa, 245ca, 365mfc) and Perfluorocarbons PFCs, which are banned or in the process to be banned according to the regulation (EC) No 842/2006 of the European parliament and of the Council, due to their negative impact on the environment http://eur-lex.europa.eu/LexUriServ/LexUriServ.do?uri=OJ:L:2006:161:0001:0011:EN:PDF.
Environmentally Friendly Products Consideration
Global Green Policies, “Green Label Mark”, on an eco-label award scheme. FirePro has been assessed as per GEN (Global Eco-labelling Network) green Standard and has been granted the Green Label Certificate.
ISO Certification
An ISO 14001 certificate proves that your environmental management system has been measured against a best practice standard and found compliant. Issued by a third party certification body/registrar, the certificate lets customers know they can trust that you are actively minimising the environmental impacts of your company’s processes, products, and services.
Every FirePro product is manufactured under strict quality and environmental management standards according to international standards and requirements and is certified with an ISO14001 by the DNV accreditation body.
Environmental & health issues
